Prepare a consistent brief

Use the same facts when requesting each quote. Record the boat's identity, construction, condition, value, mooring and actual use. If an insurer asks a question you cannot answer reliably, ask what evidence is acceptable rather than guessing. Keep your submitted answers and the documents that support them.

From checklist to quote

  • Gather survey, rigging, purchase and claims records.
  • Describe racing, offshore passages, liveaboard or paid use explicitly.
  • Send the brief yourself to your chosen insurer or broker.
  • Compare the PDS, schedule, endorsements and written replies together.

This tool does not contact an insurer or request a quote for you. Avoid storing identity documents or full policy numbers in the notes.

These tools run on your device. Use Save on this device to keep a draft in this browser; saving is optional. Reset removes the saved draft. Download creates a text summary, and Print / save PDF opens your browser's print options. A saved worksheet is not an insurance application or confirmation of cover.
