General information, not personal advice
sailboatinsurance.com.au publishes general educational information for an Australian audience. It does not know your objectives, financial situation, needs, vessel condition, sailing experience or intended navigation area. Nothing on the site is personal financial product advice, legal advice, navigation advice, survey advice or a recommendation to buy, retain, vary or cancel a policy.
Information can be wrong
Although the site aims to use primary sources and records review dates, no editorial process eliminates every error. A page may misunderstand a document, omit an exception, rely on a source that has changed, contain a broken link or describe a market practice that does not apply to your circumstances. Examples, calculators, diagrams and summaries simplify complex policy wording and may not produce the right result for you.
A displayed review date means the page was checked at that time. It is not a guarantee that every statement remains current, complete or correct today.
Your policy documents control your cover
Insurance cover is determined by the contract actually issued to you. Read the current Product Disclosure Statement, any Supplementary PDS, your certificate of insurance, endorsements, exclusions, conditions, limits and sub-limits together. Marketing pages, general product summaries and this website do not replace those documents. Obtain written confirmation from the insurer or broker where a fact is important to your trip, storage arrangement, racing program, refit or claim.
Products, laws and conditions change
Insurers can change underwriting appetite, premiums, eligibility rules, excesses and policy wording. Regulators and maritime authorities can change legislation, registration rules and guidance. Weather, navigation notices and local safety requirements can change much faster than a webpage. Always verify time-sensitive information with the relevant insurer, regulator, maritime authority or other primary source.
Calculators and diagrams are illustrative
Site tools organise information and perform simple arithmetic. They do not assess risk, calculate an insurer’s premium, value a vessel or predict a claim outcome. Navigation diagrams are conceptual and must never be used for navigation. Use current official charts, notices, forecasts and policy documents for real decisions.
Get help for your circumstances
Consider speaking with an appropriately licensed insurance broker or financial adviser for personal insurance decisions, a lawyer for legal questions, a qualified marine surveyor for vessel condition or valuation, and the relevant maritime authority for registration and safety rules. In an emergency, follow official emergency directions.
