Choose the decision you need to make
Keep the purchase process and the insurance process aligned without treating them as interchangeable. A survey, sale agreement and insurance offer serve different purposes. Identify who bears responsibility at each stage, which facts remain uncertain and what evidence must arrive before completion. Do not describe planned repairs as completed work. If a contract condition or ownership issue is unclear, obtain appropriate advice before committing; an insurer’s response does not rewrite the sale agreement.

- Yacht Insurance After an Auction Purchase — Plan insurance for an auction yacht where access, history, condition and removal deadlines may be limited.
- Yacht Insurance for an Estate Sale Purchase — Handle missing maintenance records, seller authority and insurance handover when buying a yacht from an estate.
- Yacht Insurance When Purchase Depends on Repairs — Record who must repair a yacht, what evidence is required and when unrestricted insurance can begin.

Use the guides with your own documents
Start with the question closest to the decision in front of you. Gather the records identified in that guide and separate known facts from missing information. The worked example illustrates how to frame an enquiry; it does not report an actual claim or guarantee the outcome. Keep any written response with the policy version and facts to which it applies.
