Before requesting an extension

Read the navigation limits on the current schedule and any seasonal exclusions. Record the whole proposed route, dates, stopovers, furthest offshore distance and crew arrangements. A broad description such as Australian waters is not a substitute for the insurer's actual boundary.

Before departure

  • Obtain any required navigation extension in writing.
  • Match the endorsement dates and route to the intended passage.
  • Check storm preparation, special excesses and visiting port certificates.
  • Keep the schedule, endorsements and emergency contacts available offline.

A completed checklist does not assess weather, route safety, vessel condition or regulatory compliance. This is an insurance preparation tool, not a navigational passage plan.
