The insurance decision
Bavaria publishes different propulsion information within the C42 range, so identify the actual installation before submitting a proposal. Do not assume a conventional diesel specification describes every yacht. Keep propulsion, battery and charging documentation together where relevant, and distinguish factory equipment from later owner changes.
What to clarify before relying on cover
Ask about the insurer's acceptance and evidence requirements for the declared system. Warranty support, installation suitability and accidental loss cover are separate questions. Record the value of the complete yacht consistently, avoiding an equipment total that duplicates items already included in the valuation.
Practical preparation
Check that the propulsion description is consistent across the order, commissioning documents, proposal and schedule. If the configuration changes during the build, identify the superseded document. This is particularly useful when equipment packages are quoted early and the final installation is confirmed much later.
- Exact propulsion configuration
- Commissioning and system documents
- Consistent complete-yacht valuation
Worked example
A buyer receives a base-model quotation before the final propulsion specification is settled. The buyer resubmits the completed specification and commissioning information and obtains revised confirmation before accepting delivery.
Put the decision in context
For a model-specific enquiry, use the yacht’s own records to establish its configuration. Brochures identify design context but may describe a different year, version or option package. Keep hull identification, build year, inventory and survey together. Compare quotations using the same value, berth, operators and use; otherwise a premium difference can conceal different assumptions. Ask for the final schedule and any endorsements, and check them against the facts supplied before relying on the cover.

Prepare a clear insurance enquiry
Record the facts you can support, the evidence still missing and the precise decision you need. Keep the response beside the relevant policy document.
Frequently asked questions
Can all Bavaria C42 propulsion versions use the same description?
No. Describe the installed system and supporting records. The model name alone does not establish the machinery, electrical equipment or insurer acceptance.
Can this model guide provide a reliable insurance premium?
No. Pricing and acceptance require the actual yacht’s value, condition, location, operators and use. Request current terms and compare exclusions, excesses and outstanding conditions alongside the premium.
