Sailing conditions on the replacement policy
Sailing vessels often have risk features that do not appear in a simple online quote flow, including standing rigging age, sails, offshore navigation, racing, swing moorings, liveaboard use and major refits. If the quote form does not ask about something material to how the vessel will be used, raise it before purchase and keep the answer in writing.
Policy start dates and wording
Compare the latest documents that apply to the exact policy start or renewal date. Policy wording can change while the product name stays the same.
Comparing old and new cover
A new insurer may apply different valuation evidence, rigging-age conditions, navigation language, claims contacts or event-specific excesses. Prepare a one-page change list before switching: what improves, what narrows, what becomes conditional and what still needs written confirmation. Tell the new market the same complete facts supplied to the old one, including claims and declined applications where the question requires disclosure.
Use the quote checklist for consistent facts and the policy comparison framework for the wording comparison.
