Broker services for sailing vessels
Sailing vessels often have risk features that do not appear in a simple online quote flow, including standing rigging age, sails, offshore navigation, racing, swing moorings, liveaboard use and major refits. If the quote form does not ask about something material to how the vessel will be used, raise it before purchase and keep the answer in writing.
Checking the current FSG
Compare the latest documents that apply to the exact policy start or renewal date. Policy wording can change while the product name stays the same.
FSG, PDS and TMD differences
The Financial Services Guide usually explains who is providing the service, how they are licensed, how they may be paid and how complaints are handled. The Product Disclosure Statement explains the insurance product itself. The Target Market Determination describes the intended distribution and target market. Read all three with the quote and certificate; none replaces the others.
- Match the business name and AFS licence details to the entity on ASIC’s register.
- Check whether the person arranging cover acts for you, the insurer or under delegated authority.
- Look for commission, fee and conflict disclosures before accepting the quote.
